Mother's Day is comng up quick, and this will be my very first year to celebrate it being a mother myself. Last year we celebrated with both of our families by hosting a brunch on Sunday morning. I like brunch because it's a super simple meal to prepare, and such a fun way to send a weekend morning. I put together this fun little mini inspiration shoot with ideas for creating your own Mother's Day event.
One of the simplest ways to spruce up any table is with beautiful blooms. Keep it simple by choosing a few large statement blooms like these peonies and mixing in some smaller filler flowers. I used pink waxflower and poppy pods for some fun texture.
Submerging photos in your flower arrangements is a fun way to add a personal touch to your arrangements. Make sure to use photos that have been professionally printed, rather than some you just ran off your inkjet printer (those will run when you put them in water). The water and the vase makes the photos magnified and clear.
For this shoot I wanted to keep the food simple so I went to a favorite local bakery, McClain's, and grabbed some sweet rolls and coffee cake. I also added fruit to the menu, and of course fresh brewed coffee. If I was doing a real brunch I would also serve an egg casserole of some kind. They're always great because you can make them the night before and just cook them the morning of your event. This Sausage Kale Breakfast Strata from The Pioneer Woman is one of my all time faves (and it's easy).
Brunch is also a perfect excuse to use my adorable vintage milk glass hostess sets. I love that they come with plates perfect size for food, and also little cups for coffee, or they'd be great as fruit holders too.
That's it, easy breezy! I am super excited to celebrate this year with our families, and our little girl. How do you like to celebrate Mother's Day?
