Stud Mania!

For some reason this past week people have been going stud crazy, that is buying up my stud earrings like mad.  I'm not sure if they think they're getting a cheap last minute gift, or they're just really popular all of a sudden.  Either way I'll take it, but you'd be fooling yourself if you ordered something on Etsy today and expect to get it by Friday.  Am I right?

Other than that, been going a little nutty the past few days trying to finish up Christmas orders, but found a few moments last week to squeeze in some new designs.  Find em in my Etsy shop: emmyray.etsy.com

Found a new home with my dear Claudia just hours after it was posted

One of my favorites, thinking of keeping it for myself

Made from antique appliques, super light weight and easy to wear

A "perfect pear pendant"

And I can't take credit for this lovely, found it at a flea-market

Tune in tomorrow for Hump Day Inspiration.  Later lovelies!

Weekend in Review: Festivus for the Rest of Us!

Festivus went off without a hitch.  Some key players were missed, but we had a great turn out and lots of fun.  We missed our fourth member of the Festivus club, Claudia, and had to sub in Fresh Cookies* for a few pictures.

Jamie and Matt being unnecessarily awkward

Why is there always an iPhone in the picture?

Our Festivus Club, sans Claudia, plus Fresh Cookies

Already looking forward to our next party.  I think we'll have an open house sometime in the spring to show off all our new digs.  Can't wait!

*Fresh Cookies is a stuffed Christmas decoration that during our year and a half duration as roommates (Jackie, Claudia, Angela, and myself) was in the kitchen year round. It belongs to Angela who insisted that "it is not a Christmas decoration", so we used to steal it, hide it, leave it in her bed when she wasn't home, etc.  A fitting substitute for Claudia since it was her and I that harbored the most contempt for Fresh Cookies.

Your City Thursday: Knit Happens

Two posts in one day, aren't you a lucky devil? I wasn't going to do a "Your City Thursday" because I was feeling a general lack of inspiration, but as I was looking at some new blogs I found this and just couldn't contain my excitement!

I posted months ago about knit tagging, and how happy it makes me: http://knithappenskc.blogspot.com/

Well I found the lovely ladies responsible on the lovely blog Knit Happens. Not only do they feature adorable knit projects and inspirations, they also have a flickr page that shows all of their tagging projects. So check them out and here are just a few of their lovely images:

The light pole I mentioned in my post

And some more knitspiration

Thanks Knit Happens, I love you!

Flowers of the Day: emmy-ray holiday arrangement

I made my first ever holiday arrangement this week for a new client.  As a child whenever I handled evergreen and pine I broke out into hives, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway.  No hives thank goodness, just lovely flowers...

Festivus is Saturday and I'm so excited I might pass out.  Pictures next week.  Happy Thursday my lovelies!

A trip to the Antique Mall

I am going to a White Elephant party this week, also known as Yankee Swap.  I love shopping for these kinds of presents, something unusual, or wacky.  Some of my favorites have included: A Planet of the Apes model kit (circa the 1970's), a two foot tall pink poodle candle, cast iron alligator nutcracker, beetle encased in resin, and this years...well I can't tell you that yet.  Yesterday while perusing the Antique Mall for gifts I saw many curiosities but this was by far my favorite:

I like that the tag read "realistic and elegant".  This would be on my wall at this very moment except for the fact that it was $275.

On top of the Yankee Swap party, I'm creating a Christmas arrangement for a client tomorrow, so there are buckets of flowers in my dining room.

And last but not least some lovely little pendants I was commissioned to create as party favors for a Vegas birthday trip.  Sounds like fun to me!

Later my lovelies.

A Year in Review

I've been going through and doing some end of the year photo organizing.  I like to look back on all the events from months past.  There are an awful lot of memories saved up on my computer (and don't worry also backed up on disk).  So I thought what could be more fun than sharing a few of my favorite photos with you, my lovelies?  It's a peek inside my little family...

Now I'm off to go make something lovely.  Happy Monday!

Happy Holidays, and Flowers of the Day

Insulating is done, however the aftermath is far, far worse than I hoped it would be.  Dust everywhere.  And when I say everywhere I mean every single surface of the house (except what was covered by tarps and sheets).  Do you know how hard that amount of dust is to clean up?

On a happier note, Happy Holidays from our little family to yours!  I can hardly wait for Festivus (our annual holiday party), it's only a week and a day away.  Yipee!

and I just couldn't resist posting these lovelies from fleurs blog...

Have a good weekend my loves!

Your City Thursday and belated Hump Day Inspiration

We are having yet more work done on our house, so amongst all the excitement and craziness I plum forgot to post yesterday.  You probably thought I forgot about you didn't I?  Have no fear, here's your daily dose of handmaker of things.

I would remiss if I didn't spend Your City Thursday talking about bon bon atelier.  Run by two adorable sisters, Betsy and Emily, this store offers a selection of goodies that will make your heart jump for joy, including: bath and beauty products, home decor, accessories and jewelry, TIGHTS!, dishes, fabric, shoes, stationary, the list goes on and on.  But why use words to describe the visual delight that is their shop, here's some pictures:

These ladies also support local designers such as myself, Dirty Laundry, Folded Pigs, and Scarlett Garnet Jewelry just to name a very few.  So pop on over to the shop and see what treats you can find.  Located at: 314 Westport Road, Kansas City or online www.bonbonatelier.com

Now here's your shot of inspiration, I know you missed it yesterday.  What I'm loving right now:

The sights and colors of Vegas (for a commission I'm doing)

And oh, hello lovely, whose necklace was featured on the KC Independent's website?  That's right yours truly!

Happy Thursday!
